I create warm, imaginative illustrations that capture the magic of every story and help young readers connect with characters, places and big little adventures.
I’m Victor Salawu, an illustrator focused on children’s storytelling. I love turning words into expressive characters, playful environments and scenes that make a story feel tangible.
My process is collaborative: I read for the heart of the story, explore visual ideas, share sketches and WIP, then refine each scene into polished artwork that stays consistent from the first page to the last.
A children’s story illustration showcase built around Victor’s visual storytelling approach. Replace the sample artwork panels with final illustrations, spreads or book covers as the portfolio grows.

Beyond finished scenes, Victor can build the visual language of a book from the first character sheet through cover direction and page-ready artwork.

Victor can support authors, publishers and families creating custom stories — including character development, visual world-building, scene sketches, WIP reviews, final illustrations and cover artwork.
The goal is to make the creative process easy to follow while protecting the personality of your story.

WIP checkpoints make it easy to review the story visually before every scene is finalized.
We discuss the story, audience, mood, characters and visual references.
Initial character and scene concepts are created and shared for feedback.
Approved ideas become polished scenes with color, detail and emotion.
You see the work in progress and can guide refinements before final delivery.
High-quality, organized artwork is prepared for print, digital use or publication.
Victor’s strength is making a story feel like a place you can actually step into. The characters have personality, and every scene feels connected to the heart of the story.
